Update your organization’s settings, including the basic information displayed in Xero, and choose what information to display on online invoices.
Change your organization's basic information
- In the Settings menu, select General Settings.
- Click Organization Settings.
- Enter or edit the basic information and contact details.
Share some organization information
When you turn this setting on:
- The details you've chosen to include will show in the footer of your online invoices and quotes.
- Users in your organization will be able to add this information to their public user profile.
To turn this setting on:
Under Include some of your information..., select On.
- Select the fields to include on your organization’s online invoices.
- Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions by selecting the checkbox.
- Click Save.
Basic information fields explained
The display name is the name you'll see in Xero.
If you're setting up a bank feed, you should use this name when asked to provide the 'organization name' for Xero.

The Legal / Trading name is the name that will appear by default on:
You can change your contact address details on transactions using a branding theme.
Either name can be up to 225 characters in length. The display name will be truncated if it doesn't fit on the dashboard or in the top navigation bar of every Xero screen. In reports, the organization name will always show in full, no matter how long it is.
If you change the display or legal/trading name in Xero, it will update any new reports you have saved or published. Older style published and draft reports will retain the original legal/trading name.
This logo will appear with your profile in the Xero business directory.
The logo will also appear on PDF and online version of invoices, quotes and other documents using your standard branding theme. Clear the check box Use this logo in my invoices if you don't want your logo in your standard branding theme. You can also add your logo to transactions directly.
|What is your line of business?|
Enter a specific description of what your organization does. This field will automatically suggest descriptions as you begin typing, based on what others have entered. If none of the suggestions apply to you, just enter your own unique description.
|Organization type (required)|
Your organization's legal structure. If none of the options match your organization's legal structure exactly, just select the closest one.
|Business Registration Number|
Enter your business registration number, or equivalent. In Singapore, enter the business's UEN number here. This feeds into the IAF audit file.
Enter your Employer Identification Number (EIN). This number is required in payroll in Xero to use direct deposit, or to file and pay federal tax forms electronically.
This text will appear in the footer of your online invoices and quotes, if you check the box to make it public.
Contact details fields explained
(Optional) Your postal address will appear on invoices and quotes using a standard branding theme (whether you select it or not).
You can change your contact address details on transactions if you need to, or remove registered office address from transactions.
If you leave the postal address blank, nothing will display in an invoice or quote footer.
If you enter a physical address here, you can use DOCX templates to display it on invoices and quotes. If it is geocoded, you'll be able to display a map link to your premises in online invoices.
