Create and preview a report template in Partner Edition

You can create a report template from scratch, building it up one report at a time, or by copying an existing template and customizing it.

Create a new report template from scratch

  1. From the header, click the list icon Image showing the List icon., then select My Xero.
  2. Click Reports.
  3. Click New Template. You'll see an empty untitled report template.
  4. Click Add report to add your first report.
  5. To add your next reports, open the drop-down menu labeled with your current report name (for example, Profit and Loss). Then, click Add a Report.
  6. Start typing the name of the report or scroll through the list.
  7. Click the report's name to select it.
  8. Edit the report as needed.
  9. Click Done when you're ready to add the next report.

Save as draft or ready to use

You have two options for saving your template:

  • If you still have changes to make, click Save Draft.
  • If you're ready to make it available in your clients' Xero organizations, click Ready to Use.

Copy an existing report template

  1. From the header, click the list icon Image showing the List icon., then select My Xero.
  2. Click Reports.
  3. Click the arrow next to New Template and select Copy from....
  4. Start typing the name of the template you want to copy and click the template's name to select it.
  5. Edit the template and each report as needed.
  6. Click Done when you're ready to add the next report.

Preview a template for a specific company

Your report template uses data from the Demo Company by default. To preview how your template will look for a specific client, open the template, then:

  1. From the Options menu, select Preview For....
  2. Enter the name of the client to start searching. Click to select.

You can continue to edit the report template in preview mode. To switch back to the standard view, follow the same steps but select the Demo Company instead.
