Managing report codes flagged for review

Find out why report codes appear on the For Review tab and your options for managing new report codes Xero has added.

Why report codes appear on the For Review tab

Report codes can appear on the For Review tab because:

  • You have yet to map this client's chart of accounts to report codes.
  • There's a new account in this client's chart of accounts.
  • Xero has introduced new report codes.

Reviewing report codes gives you the opportunity to map accounts to a more detailed level. Report codes will keep their existing mappings unless you decide to change them.

When Xero has added new report codes

We'll flag for review any accounts with an existing report code that's the parent of a new report code.

Say you have an account mapped to the Expense (EXP) report code. If Xero introduced a report code EXP.TRA.PLA for Travel - Interplanetary, the EXP account would appear on the For Review tab.

Accounts mapped to report codes at the same level as the new code won't appear on the For Review tab.

Say that account was mapped to EXP.TRA.INT instead. In that case, it wouldn't appear on the For Review tab when we released our hypothetical new report code, EXP.TRA.PLA.

To ignore new report codes that aren't relevant to your practice, you can export your existing report codes and re-import them.
