Set up a pay check template

Choose the details to show on checks you print with Xero, so your checks are ready to give to employees.

  1. In the Settings menu, select General Settings.
  2. Under Features, click Payroll Settings.
  3. Click the Paystubs tab.
  4. Under Check Template, select the checkboxes to show the information on employee checks.

    Select information to show on check.

  5. Drag and resize the information boxes in the template until you have the design you want.
  6. Click Save.

    You can click Reset to Default to revert your changes and start again if needed.

  7. Click Show Preview to view the layout as a PDF file and print a test check.
Try printing your first payroll check onto plain paper to test the alignment. Hold it up to the light with check stock behind it. Adjust any parts that don't line up.
