Change your name or location within Xero

Find out how to change your user profile name or location within Xero. Changes to your name or location will flow through to your profile on Xero Community if you've ever posted there, and to your own site if you have embedded your profile.

Change your user profile name

  1. Click on your name at the top right of the screen and select Profile.
  2. If your user profile is public, click Edit profile to get to Profile Settings.
  3. Under Basic Information, find the Name field. Change your name by clicking into the field and editing the text.
  4. Click Save.

Your user profile name appears:

  • On Xero Community, if you have ever posted there.
  • On the top right of your screen in Xero when you are logged in.
  • Throughout your Xero organization, eg identifying your actions in History & Notes.

Change your user profile location

  1. At the top right of the screen, click on your name and select Profile.

  2. If your user profile is public, click Edit profile to get to Profile Settings.
  3. Next to Location, click the arrow to select your country from the list or start typing to narrow the list. Click your location to select it.
  4. Click Save.

Xero uses your user profile location to determine:

  • The default location for any additional organizations you add.
  • The date convention you will use, when you enter dates in Xero.
  • The spelling of words within Xero.

Your location also shows in Xero Community, if you have ever posted there.
