Create report publishing styles in Partner Edition

Set up a default logo, border color and footer for client reports. You can apply report publishing styles to client reports from the Reports menu and to report templates. You'll need Practice Administrator or Principal permissions to create report publishing styles in Partner Edition.

How report publishing styles work

Many reports in Xero are available in both old and new styles. Reports that have the ‘New’ label in the All Reports screen won’t use all publishing style options. The new reports let you create report footers while editing rather than using the default footer text. The new reports also don’t have borders and so apply the default border color to the title text only.

Once you've set up report publishing styles, your default styles will show on your clients' published PDF reports. You have the option to override your default border color or footer text when you publish each report.

Your practice's report publishing style settings will only appear on published reports, and in the PDF view. They won't appear on:

  • Reports published before the new style was set
  • Unpublished reports exported to PDF
  • Reports in Excel or Google Sheets format

Upload your practice logo

For the new style reports, the logo you upload will appear on the top right-hand side of all published PDF report pages. For the older reports, the logo will display on all pages except the cover and contents pages.

  1. Make sure your logo is no wider than 400px and no higher than 120px.
  2. Save your logo as a JPEG, GIF or PNG of a file size no larger than 250KB.
  3. From the header, click the list icon Image showing the list icon, then select My Xero.
  4. In the Settings menu, select Report Publishing Styles.
  5. Click Browse, select your file, then click Upload.

Xero will resize your image if it's wider than 400px or higher than 120px. Use the Change and Delete buttons to change or delete the logo that shows on reports you run from now on.

Set your border and title color

Your border color will apply to the lines at the top and bottom of report pages in the older style reports. It will also be used for the main title text in both styles of reports.

  1. From the header, click the list icon Image showing the list icon, then select My Xero.
  2. In the Settings menu, select Report Publishing Styles.
  3. Either:
    • Click the colored box to choose a color and save, or
    • Enter the hex value into the value field and save.

Set a default footer

Footer text displays above the footer bar, and shows on all report pages except the cover and the contents pages. In the old style reports, you can set default footer text as part of your publishing style. The new reports don't use this text as you can create report footers as you edit the report. There is no size limit for the default footer text.

  1. From the header, click the list icon Image showing the list icon, then select My Xero.
  2. In the Settings menu, select Report Publishing Styles.
  3. Enter text in the Report Footer Text box and Save.
