Release notes: updates to Xero on January 27, 2014
Here's a summary of what we've released:
- New look header
- Remove yourself from an organization
- Attach files to purchase orders
- New Zealand Business Number (NZ)
We've redesigned the menus and options on Xero's header. We have more work to do but this first release will have most benefit to accountants and bookkeepers who access a large number of organizations.
See our blog for a good overview of the changes.
Quickly navigate to organizations
From the top left of the screen, you can now access the last 5 organizations you accessed. You can also search for organizations by name.
Access to My Xero and other applications
At the bottom of the organization search list you'll see the other applications you have access to. For most of you, this will be My Xero.
For practices this will include your Practice Studio applications including Workpapers (NZ, AU and UK only) and WorkflowMax (becoming the new look Practice Manager next year).
Files menu has moved from settings
You'll also notice that access to your Files library has moved from the Settings menu to the top right of the screen as a file icon.
If you no longer want access to an organization you were invited into, you can now remove yourself, rather than asking someone else do it for you. This will be of particular use to accountants and bookkeepers who may have been given temporary access and no longer wish to see the organization listed in My Xero.
We've added the files upload button on purchase orders now - great for attaching any supporting documentation to the order for your reference. (Note that attached documents are still not attached to outgoing emails sent from Xero.)
With the launch of the NZBN in December 2013, we've added this to your organization settings page. If you are a registered company you can get your NZBN from the Companies Office website. Other entity types will be allocated a NZBN in the future. The NZBN will open up a number of opportunities to have a tighter integration with the Government and other organizations.
Refer to the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment for more information on the NZBN.
