You will notice that our Business and Practice Studio Help Centers have had a bit of a makeover! At this stage, the focus is on making our web pages easier to read. We are paving the way for more radical improvements in future, when we will be going deeper into content redesign.
You will also notice that your main Xero dashboard has a fresh new look. The panels contain much of the same information, but there's now a 'Total cash in and out' graph - great for keeping an eye on your organization’s cash movements. You can now also rearrange your dashboard to suit your organization. For example, if you want to keep an eye on bills you need to pay, you can move the bills panel to the top of your dashboard.
On repeating invoices and bills you can now insert dynamic date placeholders in both the Description and Reference fields. These allow for simple calculation for weeks, months and years to help speed up your invoicing workflow and ensure accuracy. These dynamic placeholders are also available in email templates.
Also, for sales invoices and credit notes, repeating sales invoices and purchase orders you can now automatically pull the document Reference field through to your email template.
When importing invoices & bills there's a new option to allow for tax inclusive amounts. Xero will now calculate tax as a proportion of the unit amount, rather than adding it on top.
When you type a name that isn't in your contact list, NEW appears in the To or From field of the transaction to let you know that you're not working with an existing contact. This indicator appears when you create:
- Credit notes
- Bank reconciliations
- Spend money and receive money transactions
Columns for tracking and net, tax (amount, rate, rate name) gross. Grouping by tracking, net, tax (amount, rate, rate name), gross and account type.
In time for the new VAT MOSS rules coming into force on January 1, 2015, we have created a new MOSS Sales tax type.
As some of you have requested, you are now able to create copies of existing credit notes, as you can with invoices and bills.
Automatically pull through more detail from your bank statement to the reference field in Xero. You can now include:
- Check No.
- Analysis Code
Automatically set your invoice due date to be either the same as your invoice date or at the end of the invoice's month.
You can now click on any balance to view a separate report of the transactions that make it up.
Month-to-month or week-to-week you're posting really similar manual journals? You can now set up repeating journals that are created automatically based on the schedule you specify.
How to set up a repeating manual journal
Been using Xero for a while and have a whole lot of old manual journals that only seem to add clutter? File them away in the new Archive tab so that previous financial years are out of sight and out of mind.
When you create account groups in the new Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and Movements in Equity reports, you can now allow the group or accounts within it to dynamically move position on the report according to whether they have a debit or credit balance.
Accountants using Partner Edition are now able to add footers to client reports.
