Manage staff assigned to clients in Xero HQ

Manage who has access to a client, including their role in the client's Xero organisation access and extra permissions within the organisation.

You need to have the Administrator or Master administrator Xero HQ user role to assign staff to a client.

Add staff to a client

  1. Go to Clients and click the name of the client you want to add staff to.
  2. Select Staff to see a list of the staff members currently assigned to the client.
  3. Click Add staff to show a list of the staff members with the Standard user role or the Administrator user role that were added after the client was added.
  4. Select the checkbox next to each staff member you want to add to the client, then click Next.
  5. Select the Xero HQ permission you want the staff members to have for the client.
  6. (Optional) If the client has a Xero account, select level of access you want the staff members to have to the client's Xero organisation.
  7. (Optional) If you give the staff members access to the client's Xero organisation, select the extra permissions you want them to have.
  8. Click Save.
You can only add the staff members as Advisers to begin with. If you add several staff members to a client at the same time, all staff members will have the same permissions. You can change the user role and permissions after you've added them.

Remove a staff member from client

  1. Go to Clients and click the name of the client you want to add staff to, then select Staff.
  2. Click the menu icon Xero HQ menu icon next to the staff member you want to remove from the client and select Remove staff from client.
You can only remove staff members with the Standard user role. Staff members with the Administrator user role have access to all clients by default.

Change a staff member's permissions

  1. Go to Clients and click the name of the client you want to add staff to, then select Staff.

  2. Click the menu icon Xero HQ menu icon next to the staff member you want to change the permissions for and select Edit permissions.
