Set up your petty cash account

Add a petty cash bank account to your chart of accounts to record your organisation's petty cash transactions.

  1. In the Settings menu, select General Settings.
  2. Click Chart of Accounts.
  3. Click Add Bank Account.
  4. Enter 'Petty Cash' in the Find your bank search box, then click Add it anyway.
  5. Complete these fields:
    • Account Name - enter 'Petty Cash' or something similar so you can identify the account on reports.
    • Account Code - enter a unique code for your Chart of Accounts.
    • Account Type - select Other.
    • Sort code - enter any number.
    • Account Number - enter 'Petty Cash'.
  6. Click Save.
