Add time to a task in Projects

Add a time entry to a task to keep track of how much time you've spent on it. You need to have created the task before you can add time to it.

Projects is currently in development. Learn how to get early access to Projects (xero.com).

Add time to a task

  1. In the Projects menu, select Overview.
  2. Click the project name.
  3. On the Tasks and Expenses tab, either:

    • Click the menu icon Image of menu icon in Projects. on the row of the task you want to add time to, then select Add time.

    • Click Add, then select Time entry.

  4. Click on the amount of time you want to add.
  5. Select the date you spent time on the task.
  6. Select the task to assign the time entry to.
  7. (Optional) Add a description.
  8. Click Create.

Edit a time entry

You can only edit a time entry if you haven't invoiced the customer for it.
  1. In the Projects menu, select Overview.
  2. Click the project name.
  3. On the Time tab, click the time entry you want to edit.
  4. Make your changes, then click Save.
