Enter an employee's salary and employment information

Add salary, wage and employment details to your employees in payroll before you pay them.

Before entering an employee's salary and employment information, make sure you've set up your pay calendars in Xero.

Set up a pay calendar

Enter an employee's employment information

  1. In the Payroll menu, select Employees.
  2. Click the employee's name to open their details.
  3. Click the Employment tab.
  4. Select the employee's start date. This date also sets the anniversary date for the employee's leave accruals.
  5. Select a pay calendar from the Pay Calendar list.
  6. (Optional) Select the employee's holiday group.
  7. (Optional) Select the employee's employee group.
  8. Click Save.

Enter an employee's salary and wages details

  1. From the Employment tab, click New Salary & Wages.
  2. Enter the employee's salary or wage information.

    Enter the yearly annual earnings into the Salary Amount.

  3. Select the Effective Date for the new wage information to take effect.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click Save.
