Edit a pay item (for Xero's Pay Run feature)

Edit any part of an existing pay item if you haven't already used it in a pay run, or when Xero prompts you to complete empty fields.

If you have used the pay item in a draft or approved pay run, you can edit any field except the Pay/Tax Type field.

  1. Under Settings, click General Settings.

  2. In the Edit Pay Item window, update your pay item.

  3. Click Save.

If you change the name of a pay item, the new name will display in any pay runs you've started to process. Other changes do not automatically apply so you will need to open the pay run, reselect the changed pay item from the drop-down list, and click save to update it.
