Add time to a project

Add a time entry to keep track of how much time you've spent on an existing task associated with a project. You can also record time on behalf of any staff member in your organisation who has the Projects User role. The name of the staff member who is associated with a time entry will appear on the related time entry.

Add a new time entry to a project

Add time to an in progress project you have already created tasks for. If you have more than one Project User in your organisation, you can select them from a list to add time on their behalf.

Adding time on behalf of another Project User makes them an active user for that month.
  1. In the Projects menu, select Time entry.
  2. Click the date you want to add a time entry to. To change the date range, click the dropdown and select a period of time, or choose a date from the calendar.

  3. Click New time entry.
  4. Select the project and task to assign the time entry to.
  5. (Optional) Add a description.
  6. Click Save.

Add more time to an existing time entry on a project

You can add more time to an existing time entry to update the total time recorded on the task for that day. You can change the date, task, and project, but you can’t change the staff member.

  1. In the Projects menu, select Time entry.
  2. Click the date of the time entry you want to add time to.
  3. Click to open a time entry, then click the amount of time you want to add.
  4. (Optional) Click on the task to change it.
  5. (Optional) Add or edit the description.
  6. Click Save.

Enter time directly from a project

Add a time entry directly from a project. Use this method to add time to a closed project.

  1. In the Projects menu, select All projects.
  2. Click either In Progress or Closed to see the list of projects.
  3. Click the project name.
  4. On the Tasks and Expenses tab, either:
    • Click the menu icon Image of the menu icon. on the row of the task you want to add time to, then select Add time.
    • Click Add, then select Time entry.
  5. Click on the amount of time you want to add.
  6. Select the date you spent time on the task.
  7. Select the task to assign the time entry to.
  8. (Optional) Add a description.
  9. Click Save.

Edit a time entry

You can only edit a time entry if you haven't invoiced the customer for it.

  1. In the Projects menu, select All projects.
  2. Click either In Progress or Closed to see a list of projects.
  3. Click the project name.
  4. On the Time tab, click the time entry you want to edit.
  5. Make your changes, then click Save.
