Edit a pool

If you have the Adviser user role, edit a pool's name and, in some cases, its pool type, depreciation rates and opening balance. The details you can edit depend on the pool type, and whether you've made changes to the pool. If you want to change the pool's closing balance, make a pool adjustment instead.

What details can you edit?

Type - You can edit the pool type on a custom pool if there are no events in the pool. This means the pool has no assets, no depreciation, and no adjustments. If you've already started using the pool, you can remove events in the pool and then edit the type. You can't edit the pool type for a Small Business Pool or Low Value Pool.

Name - You can edit a pool's name at any time.

Start Date - You can change the pool's start date if there are no events in the pool. This means the pool has no assets, no depreciation, and no adjustments. If you've already started using the pool, you can remove events in the pool.

Opening Balance - You can change the pool's opening balance if no depreciation has been run on the pool. If you've run depreciation on the pool, roll back depreciation to the later of the pool's start date or the tax reporting start date in Xero.

Depreciation Rates - You can edit depreciation rates on custom pools if no depreciation has been run on the pool. If you've run depreciation on the pool, roll back depreciation to the later of the pool's start date or the tax reporting start date in Xero. Depreciation rates for the Low Value Pool and Small Business Pool are fixed and can't be edited.
