Add a fixed asset purchased before your start date in Xero

Add an asset to your fixed assets register that you purchased before your fixed assets start date in Xero. You can then account for any accumulated depreciation on this asset.

  1. On the Accounts menu, click Fixed Assets.
  2. Click New Asset.
  3. Enter the details of the asset.
  4. In the Book Value section, in the Accumulated Depreciation as at ... field, enter any accumulated book depreciation for the asset up to your start date for fixed assets in Xero.

    This field only appears if your Depreciation Start Date for this asset is before your start date for fixed assets in Xero.

  5. In the Tax Value section, in the Accumulated Depreciation as at ... field, enter any accumulated tax depreciation for the asset up to your tax start date in Xero.

    This field only appears if your Depreciation Start Date for this asset is before your tax start date in Xero.

  6. Click Save as Draft. If you have the Adviser user role, you can select Register instead.
